Very friendly service! The cashier seemed super passionate about matcha and gave detailed recommendations which I thought was sweet. I tried a strawberry matcha latte. The strawberry tasted fresh and the matcha was of good quality. I would prefer if the matcha was stronger though as my drink was on the milkier side.

I typically get my matcha fix at the store downstairs but wanted to try this spot. Specifically, I wanted to try their Hokkaido milk soft serve since it was after dinner and I can't have any sort of caffeine that late. The service was great! The man at the counter was very friendly and told us to take our time looking at the menu. My ice cream came out right when I ordered it, so service was extremely quick. The ice cream itself was pretty good but too sweet for my taste. Overall, the milky flavor was on point though. It would probably pair well with an unsweetened matcha or just straight water lol. The portion size was generous though. I'll definitely need to come back again to try their matcha soft serve and drinks!

Some of the best matcha I've ever had -- 100% recommend this place. I got an iced matcha latte with a snow top and the snow top was so good with the matcha latte, it paired really well. The latte was really smooth and was a good ratio of all the flavors. It's definitely on the pricier side but also very much worth it (I would pay it again). I also got the uji matcha cheese tart which was good, but can be skipped. The service was good as well, the staff is really nice. It can be a bit crowded since it's a small stand but definitely worth the wait (I literally think about this matcha all the time).

Spent a few hours in Japantown and knew we wanted to get some matcha. Remembered that Maruwu Seicha was located in the main plaza and decided to check it out. The location is next to Yi Fang Tea in front of a few stores and restaurants. It's a tiny shop that offers ordering on an IPad or in person. We ordered their matcha soft serve with red bean, a matcha latte, a strawberry matcha latte with Okinawa boba, and the hojicha latte with Hokkaido milk soft serve (total was a little over $35 for 4 items). Despite the busyness and long lines, our order was ready under 5 minutes. Happy to say all our drinks and soft serve were the perfect pick me ups. Their normal sweetness was the perfect- not too sweet and complimented the matcha well. The matcha itself was strong but not overly bitter. The hojicha paired with the soft serve was refreshing and comforting at the same time. I was skeptical about the boba being too sweet but it was a nice chewy texture and brown sugar sweetness paired well with the strawberry purée. Despite being in the pricier side, the portions and quality exceeded our expectations. This is definitely our new go to spot for matcha in Japantown and I know we'll be back again.

My new favorite matcha soft serve spot in SF! This place has the most authentic tasting matcha soft serve as well as Hokkaido milk soft serve. We also tried their tarts before and enjoyed these but not as much as the soft serves! The staff are also super friendly even near closing time - super smiley and polite. Definitely check it out the next time you're in Japantown and I hope they open up other branches!

Get the matcha soft serve! We wanted to get something cold to ease off the hot weather and this was the perfect dessert. The matcha flavors were SUPER rich - the only disappointing part was that we couldn't help but notice how hollow our cup was.... especially for a small ~$7 dessert :') You can order through the self service kiosk on the left side of the line, or with the cashier at the right. We also ended up getting the cheese tarts, and thought they were just okay! Definitely not a dessert that I think I prefer, but if you really enjoy cheesy flavors you might like this.

Pretty busy on a Friday afternoon. A good amount of tables next to the store. Cashier was very friendly. We got the matcha latte with snow top + matcha fuji cafe latte. The matcha latte with snow top tasted much better after mixing but also was on the sweet side. I was kind of surprised that it was so sweet - I thought they'd focus more on an authentic deep matcha flavor but it felt like mostly sugar. I can usually handle sweet drinks very well so I enjoyed it for the most part, but this spot wouldn't be my top matcha choice in the future. I'd definitely want to try their soft serve if I'm ever back in the area though!
